Federal Work Study/Campus Employment
Working on campus at Saint Francis University
When reviewing your financial aid package, you may notice an element called Federal Work Study or Campus Employment. This is an opportunity for you to work on campus, earn some cash, meet new people, and maybe even pick up some valuable work skills. Only students demonstrating financial need are eligible to work under the Federal Work Study Program. So what if you don’t qualify for Work Study? No problem – you can still work under the Campus Employment Program.
How to nab the ultimate work study position (or just find a job):
1. Check to see if you qualify for work study (noted on your Financial Aid Package).
2. Complete your paperwork: during check-in before classes start in August or in the financial aid office (Padua 228). These forms must be completed before you can receive a paycheck:
- Form I-9
- Form W-4
- A copy of your photo ID and your social security card
3. Look and listen for potential jobs: it’s your responsibility to find a job. Some examples of areas with work study positions include:
- Academic departments
- Administrative departments (Computer Services, Admissions/Financial Aid, Registrar)
- Student services departments (Campus Post Office, ACE, Frankies/Torvian, Athletics)
4. Get paid! Each month that you work, you’ll receive a paycheck for the hours you logged. Be sure to submit your timecards on time!
