Greek Life

Welcome, Parents! - header

The Greek Life program at Saint Francis University is one of historical value as the Franciscan Friars first established our fraternities and sororities with the hope that they would provide living and learning communities for our students through the incorporation of values and ideals.  The fraternal values movement continues to grow today on our campus and throughout the nation, whereas national Fraternity and Sorority leaders as well as college and university administrators are working together to re-engineer the fraternal world to live up to the values and integrity it was originally established upon.

Film and television have grossly generalized Greeks as irresponsible and erratic and have done so through a lens of extremism.  Although there are institutions that may mismanage their Greek students, there are many more that hold Greeks to the highest standards and often times end up creating a society by which the standard is then set.  Saint Francis University has done just that.  Our Greek students have positioned themselves on campus as exceptional scholars and leaders.  Their academic calibur is so strong that they do, in fact, boost the overall campus QPA!  Additionally, many of our prominent non-Greek student organizations, like Student Government and Residence Life, are comprised by many Greek students.  As a Catholic, Franciscan institution we dedicate ourselves to service and social justice.  It is considered to be the norm that Greeks be summoned as campus/community leaders to assist or even spearhead many of the service projects and outreach programs that the University conducts.  We consider our Greek Life program to be a character formation program by which its participants are developed morally, ethically, and socially to be catalysts of change within their current campus-community and within the communities they will serve in the future.

Here at Saint Francis University, our mission for Greek Life is simple...to provide an unmatched experience through a responsible environment that will produce outstanding citizens through 1) scholarly achievement, 2) ethical leadership, and 3) service to our communities.

As our program continues to grow, both through quality membership and in overall impact to the campus and community, we invite you to be a part of this extraordinary vision.  We ask that you take the time to learn more about our Greek Life program, and should your son or daughter choose to become involved, we ask that you be a part of his or her experience as well.  We believe that a positive Greek Life experience -- one that will develop outstanding moral integrity and provide the necessary foundation for strong character formation -- will happen only with enthusiastic support and an unwaivering commitment to this unique way of life.  We ask that you use our office as a resource in addition to the many other sources of information provided below.

Thank you for supporting our Greek Life community at SFU!
